(adult language and images)

Do you know the real stats?

Do you know where they come from?

...and why BSL is unconstitutional?

Do you know what one looks like?

... and what humans have done to them?

Do you know how to help pitbulls?

... or what it's like to love one?

Pop Quiz!

They aren't monsters, they're pets.

More than that, they are family

It's time to understand that the breed is getting a bad rap

...and so are their owners

It's time to hear the good news...

believe the truth, not the hype

This is for Pitbull Awareness Day.

It's for Esco, and Star, and Puppy, and Paige, and Gus, and Reeses, and Bauer, and Hunny, and Atticus, and Vienna, and Tess, and all the other beautiful sweet pitbulls in the world.

It's for Oscar.

But mostly, it's for love.

Kickin' It

One Month's Progress on Kicking Cancer in the Butt:

I have upped the financial goal to $1000 (from the original $500) when we broke it in the first week. I am still accepting donations (and still counting the money only after it is actually in the interest bearing account set aside for the walk) but have some news from the organizers of the walk itself. They held off on having a website as long as possible (because that costs money, and that takes money away from the donations) but have succumbed, and will have a website set up to accept donations/sponsorships by December. So if just giving me money without being able to get that tax receipt didn't sit by you, you can give freely in December (or after) and have all the documentation you should need.

As for the walking, I pledged that in September and October I would walk at least one mile, at least three times a week. As I clarified, I was counting miles and half-miles and only ever rounding down. I've had to up the "goal" on that as well (it was previously 200) since based on my pledge, I should have walked 12 miles in September (3 miles a week times four weeks) and if you'll check those numbers up above, you'll see I've gotten a little obsessive and done over two and a half times my pledge amount! (Um, hello? Three point frickin' Five miles TODAY!!! A 5K is 3.1! I did 3.5. Three. And another point Five. Miles. ME! Today. One walk. Three and a half miles.)

I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying the walking, and how much better I feel - I know this is only possible because of finding a doctor who was willing to get my meds straightened out, but I'm feel healthier and happier and find myself looking forward to each tomorrow's walk nearly as soon as I'm finished today's!

Thanks everyone for the support and encouragement!

Oh, and Trevor is still on meds and fluids (and my chest) for now, but his bloodwork last week showed good improvement and he's acting very near normal now. So it looks like y'all are stuck with Trevor stories for the next few years after all. Thanks for the prayers, even if he wishes you'd sent baby birds instead.

I promise to provide some craftier entires in the near future.

Sure, you deserve one. You helped popularized lolcats from a running gag to an online sensation. Now mainstream media writes asinine columns on this 'phenomenon', students write theses on the topic, programming languages adopt the grammar, and losers write tests about them on dating sites. Now take your cheezburger and never touch the internets again.
